Fitted from new with a Volvo Penta MD2003, indirectly cooled, three cylinder diesel rated as generating approx. 28 BHP at the flywheel. The engine drives a self-feathering, three bladed propeller by Brunton through a conventional stainless steel propeller shaft. 

 

The engine has been professionally maintained by a couple of engineers based close to 'Hullabaloo's home mooring, with the last major work having been to replace the engine's resilient mounts in 2018. The engine was last serviced in February 2020. 

 

Electrical Systems 

The original, two battery system has been upgraded to include three batteries. An independent 95 A/hr engine cranking battery has been fitted within the engine space, ahead of the engine, with two 110 A/hr batteries located beneath the Navigator's seat, and the the original rotary selector switch replaced by individual double pole switches including a 'bridging' switch to be able to supplement the engine cranking battery with the Domestic/Services battery bank if necessary. 

 

Charging is by engine-driven alternator and a hatch garage-mounted P.V.(solar) panel for trickle charge maintenance of the batteries while the vessel is on moorings. 

 

A 220-240V AC shore power support system is fitted, with RCD and consumer distribution box fitted beneath the chart table, and 13 Amp sockets fitted at galley and in the main saloon. 

 

Tankage 

Fitted out in teak-faced plywood and hardwood cappings throughout, the Storm Cruiser's accommodation was common with the One-Design version's interior, but featured more creature comforts and customer 'optional extras' as standard. This example, being of a 1990 vintage offers more headroom above the berth in the aft cabin than in earlier 'OOD' specification boats. She offers a maximum 'Seven' berths in three cabins. 

 

A three outlet, diesel-fired, hot air heating unit is fitted and a radio/CD player fitted with stereo speakers in the main saloon for background entertainment. 

 

Forward cabin: A double berth, without re-course to having to infill the berth, there is room to stand abaft the berth for access to a hanging locker to starboard and a wash basin to port. Deep storage shelves to hull sides. Light and ventilation provided by an aft opening for'hatch. 

 

Main Saloon: A U-shaped dinette arrangement to port of the centre-line mounted table can be convert to provide a double berth, while a straight single berth faces the table from starboard side. All cushions incorporate their supporting panels to enhance access to the lined storage lockers beneath the seating and the cave lockers located behind the back rest cushions are also individually lined. A forward-facing, independent chart table is located to starboard with vinyl-covered seat and provision for instrumentation outboard of the Navigator. A half-height hanging locker aft of the chart table was provided with a plastic, draining base to accommodate wet oilies. 

 

Galley: L-shaped and located to port of the companionway (to be on the downhill side if hove to on starboard tack), the galley has been fitted with a replacement cooker (Neptune 2500), with flame failure devices to all burners. A top-opening cool box was refrigerated from new by Westerly and twin sinks are provided with hot and cold water via a mixer tap, with foot-pumped manual back-up pump on the cold water supply. 

 

Aft Cabin: Located to port side, the aft cabin's double berth extends across the centre-line behind the engine space, with hanging locker and two opening port lights for light and ventilation.

Raymarine ST60 series wind direction and speed indicator.
